Abdi-Basid ADAN (or Abdi-Basid Ibrahim Adan), Founder & CEO at HMD | Executive Director at tABCi | Research Scientist & Data Science Expert.

Founder & CEO at HMD | Next Generation Mobility (Since 2024) : I am currently leading a strategic R&D initiative to redefine urban transportation through high-efficiency propulsion systems. To ensure the integrity of the intellectual property and technical milestones, HMD operates under strict confidentiality (Stealth Mode). My work focuses on the architectural design of next-generation mobility solutions, bridging the gap between advanced engineering and sustainable urban flight.

Founder & Executive Director since 2017, I have been an independent researcher and the founder of The Abdi-Basid Courses Institute (tABCi), creating methodologies in econometrics, data science, and interdisciplinary research. My mission is to make advanced knowledge accessible through specialized training in applied statistics and data mining.

Additionally, as a Research Associate at CERD (since 2018) and a Research Intern at the Climate Research Center (University of Burgundy, France) in 2024 and 2025, I have established a strong track record in climate science and multidisciplinary assessment. As an Expert Consultant in Econometrics and Data Science on Malt, I provide strategic decision-making support through advanced modeling of complex datasets. Leveraging over 8 years of research expertise, I specialize in the energy transition and climate risk sectors, specifically conducting techno-economic assessments for Green Hydrogen and Ammonia production powered by renewable energy (Solar, Wind, Geothermal), integrated with seawater desalination systems. My services feature high-level statistical modeling—including data quality control, advanced data visualization, Monte Carlo simulations, Bayesian methods, and Multi-Objective Evolutionary Algorithms —as well as advanced geospatial analysis using ArcGIS, R, and Python. As a published author in world-renowned academic journals, I bridge the gap between scientific rigor and entrepreneurial agility. I am currently available for strategic remote missions to lead high-impact academic and industrial projects.

As a Research Intern at the Climate Research Center (CRC) of the University of Burgundy in Dijon, France, I investigated the interactions between oceanic circulation patterns and temperature variability. My work involved conducting advanced time-series analyses, including the calculation of monthly cycles, deseasonalization, detrending, and correlation assessments between deseasonalized cycles and seasonal temperature variations. This research aimed to uncover the underlying drivers of climatic fluctuations and enhance the understanding of ocean-atmosphere dynamics in influencing local temperature regimes.

As a Research Intern at the Climate Research Center (CRC) of the University of Burgundy in Dijon, France, I conducted a study on the "Variability of Air Temperatures and Its Implications on Heat Waves and Their Impacts on Public Health in the Republic of Djibouti (1953–2023)." My responsibilities included performing rigorous quality control and validation of daily temperature datasets and analyzing temperature variability across daily, monthly, and seasonal timescales.

2024: Nov-Present

Lead R&D Strategy | HMD – Next Generation Mobility (Stealth Mode) I am currently leading a strategic R&D initiative at HMD to redefine urban transportation through high-efficiency propulsion systems. 2022-Present:

As an Associate Researcher at ORREC within CERD in Djibouti, I conduct statistical analyses to understand spatio-temporal climate variations and their interactions with phenomena such as cyclones, ENSO, and the IOD. My work includes long-term trend analysis, covariability of climatic parameters, and the use of satellite data and remote sensing. I contribute to international scientific publications and have trained fellow researchers in multivariate statistical methods using R through accelerated courses, supporting capacity building in climate data analysis and environmental research.

2018-2022: May - Oct

In my role as a Research Associate at the Modeling Laboratory of the Institute of Earth Sciences (IST), housed within the Center for Studies and Research in Djibouti (CERD), I focused on addressing statistical analysis requirements for performance evaluation, risk simulation, and the modeling of renewable energies. I assessed the cost of renewable energy production in Djibouti and evaluated the investment profitability of national green energy projects. I also conducted studies on precipitation patterns at the national scale and evaluated atmospheric pollution dispersion in the Djibouti-ville region. Furthermore, I actively contributed to the publication of scientific articles.

2016: Dec– Jan

I was responsible for assessing the course of tuberculosis nationally and regionally. I carried out a free satisfaction survey among patients hospitalized for tuberculosis at the Dr Chakib Saad Omar Pneumology-Physiology Hospital in Djibouti, with the aim of informing hospital management of their needs in terms of service quality.
